M & N Ranch Shires

M & N Ranch is the home of the M & N Ranch Shires. Shires are a beautiful breed of draft horse that originated in England. This breed descended from the English “great horse,” which carried men in full battle armour that often weighed as much as 400 pounds.
Shires are known for their immense size and strength, their intelligence and loving personalities. They are also recognized for the white feather on their lower legs. Our shires are used for riding and driving.

Athena

Athena is an athletic mare who is incredibly curious. She loves to watch her surroundings and keep a close eye on any changes around the facility. Her favorite activity is watching us work with the tractor or any other heavy machinery. Athena has a very "in your pocket" personality- she has an aim to please her people and loves to work. She both rides and drives.
Avalon

Avalon is a gentle mare who loves to please, she is the "poster child" for the shire breed. She has a heart of gold and the most gentle nature. She happily takes a child on board to casually walk around the ring or a more seasoned rider out on the trail. Her favorite thing to do is stand on the cross ties and be loved and groomed. Avalon is used only for riding.
Abbie

Abbie is a gentle mare who loves to please, she is young and curious. She has a heart of gold and tries her hardest to please her person. She is currently learning how to drive and is being started under saddle. Above all she loves to learn & to be the center of attention.
